Hi everyone! Those of you who know me from Bribie Island, know that I have a great empathy for all creatures great and small, and especially my furry canine friends!
In 2016, I offered to coordinate the first ever Million Paws Walk for Bribie Island as there was nowhere nearby that had walks happening at the time. I was given the opportunity by the RSPCA and it was the start of an amazing relationship with a truly dedicated bunch of people from the RSPCA staff who mentored and helped me, to the businesses who supported the day and to the amazing people and their fur family members who joined the walk at that very first event and kept coming each year after.
Between 2016 and 2019, we raised nearly $40,000.00 from the Bribie walks. In 2020, I was setting up the Bribie walk with help from the amazing Yvonne, and also starting preparation for the first Hervey Bay walk. Then the dreaded Covid-19 hit and everything shut down, including the Million Paws Walk. The walk went virtual with us hoomans able to walk our dogs to raise money, not quite the same as the Million Paws Walk though and as soon as I get the approval, it will be happening for Hervey Bay.
The Bribie SES came to provide First Aid Support!
