You may be able to claim for your Pilates sessions through your health fund!
Did you know that you may be eligible to claim your Pilates classes through private health fund rebates for fitness services. The following information about specific funds should be taken as a guide only and is not an exhaustive list of funds recognising fitness services. If you hold private health insurance, contact your fund to determine what is required to enable you to gain a rebate and what level of rebate you are eligible to receive. It’s important to remember that all funds are different! Your fund may require particular information from me on your invoices so it is important to check this too! A doctor or allied health professional referral will be be required to indicate that the program is necessary due to an existing health or medical condition.
Finally, it’s also important to remember that the amount of a potential refund is heavily dependent on the level of cover held by you and that holding private health insurance does not automatically ensure eligibility for a refund for fitness service.

Medibank AUSactive personal trainers and businesses are recognised by Medibank! Face-to-face Personal Training sessions provided by approved AUSactive personal trainers who have a Certificate IV (or above) qualification, or equivalent, in Fitness are claimable by eligible Medibank My Choice Extras Support or Medibank My Choice Extras customers who are managing a health condition identified by a health practitioner.
Bupa: Bupa Health Management benefits: Gym memberships and personal training Bupa provide a benefit towards some of the costs of gym memberships and personal training delivered by AUSactive recognised providers. These benefits are available to Bupa members on the following health insurance products: Corporate Everyday Extras Corporate Mid Extras Corporate Advanced Extras Corporate Total Extras*Eligibility criteria, yearly limits, waiting periods, fund and policy rules apply. Gym fees and personal training fees are only claimable when the exercise program is designed to address or improve a specific diagnosed health or medical condition – for example, arthritis. To claim, a health professional such as a GP, medical specialist or exercise physiologist must complete the Health Management Gym and PT Medical Form on your behalf. Bupa will only pay benefits for AUSactive recognised Gyms and Personal Training providers.
NIB Healthier Lifestyle Benefits Program AUSactive personal trainers and businesses are recognised by nib to provide personal training sessions and gym memberships to nib members on selected extras covers to manage existing health conditions identified by health practitioner. Westfund ultimate Extras health insurance designed for people committed to maintaining a proactive and healthy lifestyle. It offers benefits for extras that help you manage your health, like gym memberships, vitamins and preventative health checks.RT Health Top and Smart ExtrasA letter of recommendation from a Medical Practitioner, Medical Specialist, Podiatrist, Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist, Osteopath, Chiropractor, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist stating the medical reason the member needs to attend the gym and supplied together with a gym membership receipt.
The letter will be valid for 12 months, after which a new letter will be requested before further claims can be paid.
